The History of Bvlgari Watches:

The Bvlgari brand originates from Greece and an ancient family of Greek silversmiths in the village of Epirus. The founder of Bvlgari, Sotirio, fashioned fine jewellery from silver, eventually moving to Rome in eighteen eighty four.

The family business flourished in Italy with the help of Sotirio’s sons and in nineteen zero five their first shop was opened. This shop still remains today as the head of the Bvlgari empire.

Designs are based upon classic ancient Greek and Roman styles. Many of the designs feature precious stones and jewels, a keen interest of the jewellers in the early days. In nineteen seventy seven their first watch was created, named after the brand. This timepiece is still considered a classic and one of Bvlgari’s best selling watches.

During the nineteen seventies Bvlgari experienced its biggest growth phase into international markets. The first overseas shop was opened in New York, followed by Bvlgari stores in Paris, Monte Carlo and Geneva, Switzerland. Today there are over fifty such stores.
