History of Longines Watches:

Auguste Agassiz began the Longines story in eighteen thirty two by opening a small factory in St. Imier. At the time, watch making was quite different to the operations now. Back then, parts were sent out to local watch makers wo constructed the watches themselves. Local people then bought from their closest watchmaker. However Longines changed this constructing a watches factory with all this under one roof.

Since their humble beginnings Longines have produced high quality watches for a range of industries. Watches have been created for aviators, along with in-flight instruments. Longines have also developed precision watches for athletics and sport and have been represented at the world athletic games to verify athletes’ time based performances.

In nineteen sixty seven Longines celebrated their one hundredth birthday – one hundred years since the creation and registration of the brand. Since their conception it was estimated there have been fifteen million sales of Longines watches. During this time a number of different models have been sold, many increasing in value with their rarity. Watch collectors are always looking out for rare Longines watches, bearing the distinct winged hourglass.
