The History of Patek Philippe Watches:

Founded in Geneva eighteen thirty nine the company was founded by a Polish nobleman who has been exiled from his country of birth. Count Antoine Norbert de Patek created an early range of watches with a partner who promptly left. Patek was then joined by a watchmaker named Jean Adrien Philippe, a great innovator, who created their famous watch mechanisms.

The prestigious reputation of Patek Philippe watches began early with Queen Victoria becoming a customer. With their reputation and standards growing the Patek Philippe brand continued to refine their product and raise their standards of workmanship, attention to detail and overall quality.

In eighteen sixty seven the reputatation of Patek Philippe was cemeted with two innovations unveiled for the Paris exhibition. These were a perpetual calendar and chronograph with split seconds. At the time these were simply amazing, the most complicated watches ever seen and set a standard for all watch makers to follow.
