The History of Breguet Watches:

Born in seventeen forty seven Abraham Louis Breguet is seen as one of the finest watchmakers of all time.

Born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland he moved to Paris at the age of fifteen where he embarked upon an apprenticeship of watchmaking learning a wide range of skills and perfecting his craft.

In seventeen seventy five he finished his training and looked to set up his own enterprise on the on the Ile de la Cité.

Breguet found his flair, scientific knowledge and technical skills attracted him recognition for his services to watch making. He produced many fresh ideas for the time and innovation was his strongest point for the Breguet watches range. One of his finest technical breakthroughs’ was the production of the worlds first anti-shock device for watches.

As reputation spread Bregeut found many famous clients and, with every addition to his prestigious list of clientele his stock grew further. Two such world famous customers were King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette.
