Ebel Watches

The Ebel watches company was founded in nineteen eleven, an acronym using the first names of its creators Eugene Blum and his wife Alice Levy. Within just three years of the business first becoming established the Ebel brand was given a significant boost in terms of recognition when the watches creation earned a gold star at the Swiss National Exhibition. In affect, this award was a stamp for quality and signalled to many existing companies and business people that Ebel produced watches at a high level of craftsmanship.

The business continued as a private label for the next seventy years as a small operation with Alice running the day to day operations and her husband creating and selling the watches. Like many other watchmakers and brand crated at this time, Eugene travelled the world in order to sell his watches. He basically went from country to country displaying the Ebel watches to potential business and others buyers in the hope they would buy stock or put in an order for further business. With growing orders Ebels watches receiving a further stamp of recommendation, winning a certificate of excellence in nineteen twenty nine.

At this time, the Ebel business had grown sufficiently to warrant expansion and so the married couple were joined by further personnel in the form of Marcel Reuche and established and reputed watch maker.

Whilst the Ebel watches was a byword for quality within the industry, the business had trouble in further expanding the business, due to problems in gaining recognition for the brand. This was fine within the industry, but in attempting to garner private orders they found that their Ebel brand was rarely recognised. However through this uncertain period they continued producing watches to a high standard and the business was eventually handed through the generation to Pierre-Alian Blum in nineteen sixty nine. He had moved abroad and was working for a successful watch company in America when asked to return to the family concern. Pierre Alain returned to run the Ebel watches business which he did with much success. In the first year he took over, profits at Ebel were increased by thirty percent. The following year Pierre-Alain had increased the profits by thirty percent, topping this off with a massive increase in profits for Ebel the year after at a sixty percent increase. In the nineteen seventies the company found itself at a stronger position than ever and is now Ebel is one of the premier brand for Swiss watches sold internationally to much acclaim.
