The Lecoultre family history is steeped in mechanics and movements however it was not until eighteen thirty three that the family moved into the business of watch making. Antoine Lecoultre , after taking an apprenticeship in gear mechanisms, opened his own workshop to specialise in watch gearing with his brother.

It was after many years of perfecting watch complications, gear movements and their production processes, the leading manufacturer in the area that Lecoultre met up with chronometer maker Edmond Jaeger. They forged a business together creating the name Jaeger Lecoultre, a combination of their names, creating high quality complicated wrist watches.

Landmarks in the History of Jaeger Lecoultre :

Eighteen Thirty Three – Antoine Lecoultre opens a workshop in Le Sentier, Switzerland. The watch components are hand finished in a range of processes. Whilst today this could be simplified by the use of modern technology they are still crafted in this manner to this day, giving supreme attention to detail.

Nineteen Twenty Nine – At the time of the stock market crash Jaeger Lecoultre advances their watch making technology to produce the mechanical movement for their watches that is the smallest ever. It is made up of forty eight parts and weighs approximately one gram.

Nineteen Eighty nine – Jaeger Lecoultre watches produce the Grand Reveil. This watch is a self-winding perpetual calendar watch featuring moon phases. The alarm bell on this range of Jaeger Lecoultre watches has the unique feature of the bell being struck by a hammer.

Nineteen ninety One - The sixtieth birthday of the Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso, which has now become one of their most emblematic watches. A limited edition of five hundred reverse models are launched and a book published by Jaeger Lecoultre watches entitled “Reverso –the Legend”.

Reverso Duo – Features a polished eighteen carat white gold case, class lines and distinctive style. The case rotates one hundred and eighty degrees to reveal a second dial and amazing diamond bezel. This unique design for Jaeger Lecoultre is patented with independent dials driven by the same movement. The dial has Arabic markers with a smaller dial for seconds.

Master Geographic - one of the lesser known models from Jaeger Lecoultre this range of watches is thus called due to its multiple time zones which automatically adjust themselves. With a day and night aperture in addition to the geographic regions this a highly personalised and unique watch which will surely stand out.
