Generally those looking for advice on choosing a mens watch are female. Men, of course, know what they want, therefore rarely ask questions about the watch that is right for them – they just choose. However when women look for a watch (generally for a gift) they are unsure of what a man wants from his watch.

For this reason we have compiled a short guide to help decide on the perfect gift. This checklist may help you to see a clearer picture:

1) What is the required usage of the watch? – men generally have their watch for a specific occasion, scenario or purpose. There are watches for many different occasions: sports, leisure, relaxation or dress. Some watches are perfectly appropriate for any occasion, however some are more suited for a specific situation. You wouldn’t wear a diamond encrusted Rolex to play sports now would you?

Once the purpose has been chosen you can then narrow the selection of models down.

2) Why is the gentlemans style? – There are generally three ranges of watch. The first includes the large and chunky models, the second is a medium size and the third is a smaller, more subtle size. Most women will know instinctively which style is preferred. Then the selection can be narrowed down even further.
